The Worlds I See
The Worlds I See is an autobiography of Dr. Fei-Fei Li who is a prominent Scientist and one of the foremost thought leaders in the field of AI.
Dr. Li talks about her early childhood in China, her move to the United States, her education, her love for Math and university education in Princeton,
followed by a highly successful career spanning Stanford, Google and non profits in the area of Human Centered Artificial Intelligence. It offers an
inspiring look into the life of Dr. Li and how despite a lot of struggles she manages to stay focused on her goals of creating systems that use AI to help
humanity. Most of the book revolves around her efforts in the area of Image Recognition and her interaction with her students and research assistants
as they attempt to break new frontiers into this very challenging field of Artificial Intelligence and also the influence of her background, her family and
her personal experiences on her view towards her field and her research goals.
The book can be a bit heavy if you are not somewhat well versed with the area of AI, but in my view even if you skim past those sections that you deem
too technical there is still enough to take away from the life of this remarkable person.
