The Forest Of Lost Souls
A typical Dean Koontz novel. I'm not a huge fan, but picked it up for some light, easy reading to start off the New Year.
The protagonist, Vida, as is usual in such fare, is stunningly beautiful, supremely intelligent and of course a formidable
warrior. She also has a heart of gold, wisdom far beyond her years and a suitably solemn back story to make sure she
doesn't come across as even remotely relatable to anyone. The plot of course revolves around her and her struggle to
seem human as she effortlessly dispatches one after another obstacle thrown her way by the heartless author.
Truth be told though, this is a perfect read for when you don't want to tax your brain too much. So if you are planning to
fly out of O'Hare airport on a holiday weekend, stuck at home with yet another Comcast outage or want to seem intelligent
to others while not risking your cognitive faculties, this would be a perfect companion.Â
