Verity

I was really impressed with Freida McFadden's novel Housemaid and while reading some reviews of the novel, saw some recommendations for Verity by Colleen Hoover and The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine.

Verity is indeed very similar to Housemaid in terms of plot. A shadow writer, Lowen, moves in to a household to complete the works of a famous novelist who is bed ridden following an accident.

Lowen moves into Verity's home to go through her notes and research but soon discovers a chilling, unpublished manuscript—Verity’s autobiography. In it, Verity confesses to dark, disturbing thoughts and actions, including her involvement in the deaths of her twin daughters. As Lowen grows closer to Verity’s husband, Jeremy, she becomes increasingly convinced that Verity may not be as helpless as she appears.

The novel builds suspense with eerie moments and shocking twists, leading to an explosive ending that leaves readers questioning what is real and what is manipulation.
